Will provide leadership to the Body Weld lines through clearly established 2-way communication regarding goals and actions by use of Floor Management Systems, ensuring alignment of Body Weld activities to support business plan priorities, leading production improvement strategies, technology advances and providing leadership to assistant managers and group leaders, fostering their development and the development of the stamping team members.

What You Do

Initially will lead the establishment and ramp-up of Body Welding at a large, high-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation.

As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also:
  • Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
  • Work closely with Japanese team members from Mazda and Toyota
  • Create production improvement strategies relative to KPI achievement and assist Assistant Managers through team members in translating those strategies into concrete action plans by use of Floor Management Systems
  • Lead strategic planning for sustainable daily operations
  • Ensure the annual policy management supporting the business plan is completed
  • Ensure alignment of activities to support the business plan
  • Share information and communicate goals
  • Provide leadership to production Assistant Managers and Group Leaders in overall strategies based on company policy management and company priorities
  • Lead Takt Change Planning and/or line rebalancing
  • Lead new model preparation
  • Play an active role in team member development
  • Introduce new welding technologies when applicable
  • Lead 2-shift Body Weld operations producing parts for multiple models
  • Understand the technical aspects of Body Weld operations and ensure via process parameters management
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, quality, manufacturing and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and eliminate chronic line down issues
  • Cultivate a workforce that is representative of diversity and Inclusion initiatives
  • Foster two-way communication at all levels to ensure real issues are known
  • Be available to work OT and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree (Technical, Management or Business) or equivalent professional experience
  • Managerial experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Body Weld department experience in a strategic leadership role
  • Understanding of the different welding processes and equipment
  • Welding technical/systems experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental requirements
  • Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes
  • Budget planning experience (to include both operating and capital budgets)
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Strong ability to problem solve with a high mechanical aptitude
